What's Happening in Ruru So Far this Term
Guided Reading
We are a busy bunch in Ruru and this week have started our guided reading groups. The children are learning reading strategies that will help them in their reading journey to becoming fluent readers.

Writing:
We are well into our story writing, collecting ideas and learning different writing strategies like using our Alphabet/word cards independently.
Maths
In week 1 we looked at collecting information/grouping, sorting and making graphs. In these pictures we sorted coloured beans into like groups, tallied their numbers and showed our results in a pictograph.
We are now working on being an independent worker and learning new routines for math time.

New Year Welcome 2015
Welcome to Ruru class 2015
We are at the beginning of another exciting year for the students at Sacred Heart. This term is our shortest for the year and our calendar is already full with swimming, EOTC and Easter events coming up.
A bit about Me!
My name is Onieka Tristram and I have been teaching at Sacred Heart around 8 years now. I come from Canada but have spent a majority of my life here in NZ. I Trained as a teacher in Christchurch and graduated with a BTchLnHon. One of my roles at Sacred Heart is lead teacher in ICT which is one of my interests. I am enjoying being back at school getting to know your children.
If you would like to talk with me about your child or have any questions to ask, I am available at the beginning of the day from 8:30 - 9:00 am or after school.
Yours sincerely,
Onieka
